BIRMINGHAM put in a powerful performance to claim an impressive 56-34 win at Belle Vue on Friday.

The Surestop Brummies wrapped up their regular National League programme with a confidence-boosting display ahead of Sunday’s Play-Off Final first leg at Eastbourne (6.30).

Young gun Jack Smith put in a stunning display whilst Tom Bacon and Tom Perry also bagged double figures in the engine room of the side.

With Jack Parkinson-Blackburn and guesting No.1 Mitchell Davey also in impressive form, the visitors recorded 11 race wins.

It was a convincing showing from the patched-up Brummies, who were without injured duo Zach Wajtknecht and Danyon Hume plus Darryl Ritchings due to travel problems.

Team boss Graham Drury was delighted to see his side claim a big away win to warm up for the all-important National League Grand Final.

“It was a very good performance by the riders,” Drury said. “People said it was a meaningless meeting but we had a lot of Brummies fans there tonight and we wanted to put on a show for them.

“It was a very good team performance with the whole team contributing, and it certainly stands us in good stead going into the play-offs.”
