BUXTON 47 BRUMMIES 43

Sunday August 16, 2015
ANOTHER Adam Ellis maximum wasn't enough to stop Birmingham slipping to a narrow 47-43 defeat at Buxton.

The 19-year-old put in yet another faultless display and a final race, last bend manoeuvre not only secured him a full house but a vital consolation league point for the Surestop Brummies as well.

The Birmingham No. 1 was backed up well by Tom Perry and Zach Wajtknecht as the heat-leader trio scored 33 of Birmingham's 43 points between them.

It was the first time the Perry Barr outfit have suffered back-to-back defeats this campaign.

Team manager Graham Drury had mixed emotions after the meeting. He said: "I'm hugely relieved that we managed to get something out of the meeting in the end but overall I'm disappointed with today's performance.

"Adam (Ellis) was in a class of his own once again, Tom gave it everything as always and Zach rode well on his first visit to Buxton.

"But our tail end were really poor again; we threw away some stupid points when in scoring positions and that ultimately cost us the win.

"Who knows how crucial that league point could be, but there were unacceptable areas for us today and I need to strongly look at the options available to me for our final three meetings of the season."
