BIRMINGHAM have snapped up Great Britain international Edward Kennett for the 2014 season.

Kennett, who says Perry Barr is one of his favourite tracks, spent last season with Swindon but a lack of regular racing affected his form.

Now he's hoping a switch to the Selco Brummies will give his career a boost and he will double-up with Premier League Rye House.

And he wants to help his new club reach the play-offs for a third successive season.

He said: "Birmingham did really well last year finishing top of the league, and it would be nice if we can have another good season this year as well.

“We’ve got all British riders so far which is good to see and most of us know each other pretty well anyway which should help in the early parts of the season.

“As a team we’ll just be trying to make a good start, hit the ground running and hopefully we’ll be able to make the top four to get to the play-offs.”

Birmingham co-promoter Graham Drury is pleased to secure Kennett.

"I'd like to welcome Edward to Birmingham and hope he has a fine season for us," he said.

"He has a lot of Elite League experience under his belt and with his busier fixture schedule I'm sure he will be a lot sharper."
