BRUMMIES 53 GLASGOW 39

Wednesday July 25, 2007
BRUMMIES kept their winning run at home going with a convincing performance against the visiting Tigers.

At the half-way stage of the meeting, a sizeable victory margin looked to be on the cards until Glasgow managed to peg things back in the closing stages with wins in five of the last six heats.

The Brummies made an impressive start to the match with a run of advantages between Heats 2 and 5, and the club's most recent signings - Henrik Moller and Manuel Hauzinger - both showed fine form.

With Glasgow ten points down, Shane Parker took their tactical ride in Heat 7 but was superbly repelled by Emiliano Sanchez who overtook the Australian on the second lap.

Hauzinger won his first three outings before falling in Heat 10, and Lee Smart showed his ability with a fine ride to head home Craig Watson in the next race.

Parker then led the Glasgow response, which also included a win in Heat 13 for Trent Leverington as Ulrich Ostergaard, Watson and Sanchez disputed the minor places, but by then the Brummies' lead was more than secure.

Skipper Jason Lyons dropped his only points to opposite number Parker, losing out to the Tigers man in Heat 12 and then in an exciting last race when the Glasgow captain made it round both Lyons and Ostergaard on the first lap.

BIRMINGHAM 53: Jason Lyons 11+2, Manuel Hauzinger 10+1, Ulrich Ostergaard 10, Henrik Moller 8+1, Emiliano Sanchez 7, Lee Smart 6+1, Ben Powell 1.

GLASGOW 39: Shane Parker 15, Trent Leverington 8, Craig Watson 6, Robert Ksiezak 4, David McAllan 3+1, Lee Dicken 2, Michael Coles 1+1.
