SWINDON 55 BRUMMIES 37

Thursday October 04, 2012
BIRMINGHAM’S Elite League campaign came to an end as they were defeated 55-37 by Swindon at Abbey Stadium.

A disastrous 55-35 defeat at Perry Barr on Monday left them in need of a miracle in the 2nd leg – but they once again made a sluggish start and found themselves 12 behind after four races.

The Selco Brummies did bag three consecutive race wins mid-way through the meeting as they looked to restore some pride – but unsuccessful tactical rides for Sebastian Ulamek and Danny King ended their hopes once and for all.

It was another disappointing display from Brummies – with only Ulamek making double figures against his former club.

British trio Ben Barker, King and Josh Auty all failed to make any major impact – with the latter suffering a hefty fall in his final ride – whilst reserves Martin Smolinski and Nicolas Covatti were solid, yet unspectacular.

Brummies skipper King said: “The boys did their best. We came here to restore some pride after Monday and I think everyone could see that we gave it our best shot.”

SWINDON 55: Simon Stead 12, Troy Batchelor 10+2, Peter Kildemand 9, Nick Morris 8+3, Hans Andersen 7+1, Jason Doyle 5+1, Dawid Lampart 4.

BIRMINGHAM 37: Sebastian Ulamek 15, Danny King 6, Ben Barker 6, Martin Smolinski 4+2, Josh Auty 4, Nicolas Covatti 2, Bjarne Pedersen R/R.

**ALTHOUGH the result ends their league campaign, they are back in action next Thursday at Perry Barr against Belle Vue in the Knockout Cup.

And bosses have announced reduced admission for the meeting. ADULTS: £10, CONCESSIONS: £8, 14-17s: £3, Under 14s - FREE
