DUDLEY 50 BULLS 46

Tuesday September 20, 2011
BIRMINGHAM Bulls staged a late fightback before finally going down top a 50-46 Challenge match defeat at Dudley on Tuesday evening.

The Heathens always looked the likely winners but some well-placed tactical rides kept the final scoreline respectable.

Phil Morris's side got their noses in front with a 5-1 in the opening heat from Luke Priest and Jason Garrity, but Heathens immediately levelled things up in Heat 2 and looked to be heading to an emphatic victory as they then stormed into a 37-23 lead after race ten.

But back came the Bulls starting with Garrity (tactical ride) sensationally making up a lot of ground to pass Ashley Morris and Priest followed them home as Birmingham registered a 7-2 race advantage.

Dudley responded with another 5-1 in Heat 12 to go 44-31 ahead, but the visitors adapted better to the heavy track conditions in the final stages.

James Sarjeant held on for a double-point win in Heat 14 ahead of Darryl Ritchings, with Danny Stoneman beating Adam Roynon into third place for the Bulls second 7-2 race advantage of the evening.

And with the rain falling heavily the night was finished off with a Jay Pickard and Garrity 5-1 over Ashley Morris and the fallen Tom Perry.

DUDLEY 50: Ashley Morris 11, Tom Perry 8+1, Adam Roynon 8+1, Mark Robinson 7+2, Kyle Newman 7+1, Darryl Ritchings 6, Jamie Courtney 3

BIRMINGHAM BULLS 46: Jason Garrity 12+2, Jaimie Pickard 11, James Sarjeant 6, Danny Stoneman 5+1, Luke Priest 5+1, Nathan Stoneman 1+1, Ben Taylor 1
