WOLVERHAMPTON 46 BRUMMIES 43

Monday July 04, 2011
BIRMINGHAM were edged out 46-43 in an Elite League thriller at Wolverhampton on Monday.

The result handed the Brummies a point because of the points scoring system which rewards an away team for losing by six or less.

And the meeting also saw the return to form of Polish star Krzysztof Kasprzak who notched 10, including a win over home star Freddie Lindgren in the opening heat.

Boss Graham Drury said: “It was good to see KK back to something like his old self.

“I’m pleased to take a point from a tough place like this but it could have been even better.”

The Brummies fast starting in the early heats gave them a platform, and it was a solid performance from the visitors, apart from Claus Vissing, whose only point was a gift in heat 9, and they will be happy to take a point back to Perry Barr.

For Wolves. Lindgren only dropped a point to Kasprzak in the opening heat, and Tai Woffinden’s fall was his only blemish, as the Monmore men totalled ten race wins, but had too many last places.

WOLVES 46: Freddie Lindgren 14, Peter Karlsson 10, Tai Woffinden 9, Ty Proctor 6+1, Ludvig Lindgren 3+1, Ricky Wells 3, Tyson Burmeister 1+1.

BIRMINGHAM 43: Krzysztof Kasprzak 10, Ben Barker 9+1, Danny King 8+1, Ulrich Ostergaard 7+3, Kevin Wolbert 4+1, Daniel Nermark 4, Claus Vissing 1.
