SWINDON 42 BRUMMIES 51

Thursday April 21, 2011
JUBILANT Birmingham Brummies return to Perry Barr to face Swindon on Good Friday evening (7.30pm) after a superb display at Blunsdon.

Graham Drury’s side banked all four points from their trip to the Abbey Stadium, as they notched their first-ever away win in the Elite League with a tremendous performance.

No.1 and skipper Krzysztof Kasprzak was in blistering form, often too fast for his opponents as he dropped just one point from five rides – and at reserve, James Wright returned to haunt his former club with a devastating paid-15 haul, including a dramatic Heat 6 win over GB star Scott Nicholls.

Brummies never looked like losing the meeting and carved out a 12-point lead by the halfway stage, only to see that pegged back to seven when Nicholls won Heat 10 for double-points.

But the visitors quickly restored their advantage with Ben Barker recovering from an earlier fall to dominate Heat 12, and Kasprzak then reigned supreme in the closing stages.

The return fixture at Perry Barr takes place on Friday with Wright retaining his place at reserve, where he will be partnered by ex-Brummie Adam Roynon as a guest.

SWINDON 42: Scott Nicholls 17, Nicolai Klindt 10+1, Jesper B Monberg 7+2, Maciej Janowski 4+2, Justin Sedgmen 3, Josh Grajczonek 1, Simon Stead r/r.

BIRMINGHAM 51: James Wright 14+1, Krzysztof Kasprzak 14, Ben Barker 10, Daniel Nermark 5+1, Dakota North 5, Daniel King 2+1, Ales Dryml 1+1.
