Dan Kent, was born in the Kentish Town of Maidstone on 19th August 1985, and alongside his elder brother Jason, began lifting in Junior events in 2001, making sufficient progress to become British Under 16 Champion less than three years later, and securing a place in the well-known southern team where he competed in a number of competitions in 2005 as well as showing highly impressive form in his lifts, he spent a couple of years at a number of teams in the south of England.
Clearly destined for better things, Dan went on to finish fifth in the Elnand Masters Championships and gained selection for the Great Britain team. After two successful years of lifting, he was moved further north and settled in the West Midlands.
It was here where Dan eagerly searched for a new weightlifting group to join. He found that the Brummies were much more suited to his pacy style than those that he had experienced down south.
Now a popular and inspirational member of the Brummies, and continuing to work with us in developing a highly effective training program, he has been the man behind the great progress that the team has seen over the last few years. He has also deservedly been included in the Great Britain team again season and qualifying as a reserve for the Olympic team. He is set to enjoy further successes in the coming years in which he will be celebrating his tenth year of competing at a high level.
