Bullie – The Team Mascot
Hi folks! I’m Birmingham Bullie, (call me Bullie for short). And I’ve got the top job as Mascot for the fantastic Birmingham Brummies Speedway team. It’s a great gig, and I get to meet some really interesting people.
So let me tell you a bit about me and what I get up to! I’m about 7 (I think?), quite tall for my age, and the world’s best speedway fan. Oh, I’m also bright yellow and luv tweeting!!!!!!!!!!! I live at the pits at Perry Barr stadium with Mr Drury and his wife Denise. They’re really nice people and help me out a lot. There’s also Phil who’s really mad about speedway, and he’s always telling the riders how good they are, and that they’ll win every race. Sometimes there isn’t much to do, but on a Wednesday it gets really interesting, when the lads start to arrive, with their bikes!
After weeks and weeks of rain, Mr Blue Sky has eventually shown up, so no more frizzy fur for me…… It’s about time as I was getting worried how we would ever get all the meetings in! We’ve got a really great team at Birmingham, there’s Danny, and Chris, as well as Martin (he’s from Germany you know!), and Ben, who makes me laugh, and all the others too. All the lads are really up for it, and we’re aiming to get in the plays offs. Mr Dury (who’s the gaffer) reckons if we keep winning at home and do our best at the away meetings, with a bit of luck, we could do it. Speedway is the best sport there is. Because I haven’t been doing much over the last few weeks, Mrs Denise said I was putting on weight (too many burgers probably). Chubby Bullie she called me! But I’ve tried really hard, running round and round the track every morning. Its hard work but I’m getting back into shape, ready for the rest of the season.
Anyway, I need to get on, always stuff to do – you know, Kevlar’s to wash, oil to change. Last week, Mr Dury let me water the track (loads of responsibility), he said I did a good job – and we won so it must be ok. I’ve also got a Facebook page (Bullie the Brummie), and when I get a minute I’m adding stuff there are well.
